Keeping the land in our region full of life is one of our most important missions. At Mas Escorpí estate, we understand this concept as being about working towards a cared-for and self-sufficient land, able to support plants that give their best fruits vintage after vintage.
For this purpose, we implement sustainable and eco-friendly growing methods which make the estates of Mas Escorpí dynamic lands, with spongy soils, where vines of various ages have a rich soil in which to grow and give the best of themselves.
The land of Mas Escorpí estate tells the history of the Penedès region in each and every stratum: from its alluvial stones to its marine fossils, and the innumerable native plants growing in its soils thanks to its particular climate. These elements make up the terroir of this land that we nurture carefully, making it the perfect place for the production of wines which highlight the characteristics of their birthplace.
Mas Escorpí vineyards

From 100 metres altitude, in the lands closest to the Anoia River, to more than 350 metres at the highest point of Mas Escorpí, the landscape here is made up of sandy, rocky and clay-loam soils containing the sediments of a marine past in the form of fossils. The mix of these unique attributes confers very individual characteristics to the different lands, which we have taken advantage of by planting each variety in the plot where it can best express its full potential.
The Penedès region enjoys a characteristic Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and increasingly hotter and drier summers due to climate change. The breeze from the sea — only a few kilometres away — contributes to the control of vine diseases and moderates sudden temperature changes. In turn, the imposing Montserrat mountain shields the area from the cold winds of the Pyrenees.
Thanks to biodynamic growing, we have seen how our vines are better able to resist the effects of climate change. However, we still have to live with the unpredictability of this climate change and this pushes us forward in our work towards sustainability.
Montserrat

At Mas Escorpí estate, we grow up to 15 different grape varieties for the production of our wines. All of them clearly demonstrate a lifetime of study and learning in the vineyards.
Local varieties such as Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Malvasía from Sitges show our more family-oriented side, our roots. We have grown up with them and learned how to work them from our past generations.
International grapes such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are part of our history here at Mas Escorpí, the history that led us to set out to see the world, explore, learn, and return home with endless stories about the winemaking art that we are so passionate about and that drives us to constantly develop our practices.
We also maintain a farm in the midst of the vineyard, home to domestic animals such as draft horses, hens, cows and sheep, as well as bees, falcons, geese and donkeys. The presence of the farm has greatly enriched the ecosystem of the estate, with new species of flowers growing and insects appearing in the earth, which are essential for the proper functioning of the soils.

In terms of biodynamics, the presence of a farm at the centre of the estate closes and completes the natural supply loop. In addition to vitalizing the soil by increasing the richness of the environment’s biodiversity, it also supplies the resources that the vineyard soils need to ensure optimal conditions for the growth of the vines.
We recognise that natural pollination is essential for life and that bees are extremely important for our natural environment to function properly. That is why we have four beehives on Mas Escorpí land. Moreover, these insects are excellent monitors of the cleanliness and quality of the air in their home environment.

Wines elaborated by our family after years of history lived alongside each wine and each grape variety. These are wines that tend to go against the grain, created in spite of trends, and which sometimes succeed in setting them.
